As the new Safety Officer for the Santa Cruz County ARES Organization, I want inform you of an upcoming event:
FEMA and FCC Nationwide Emergency Alert Test on Aug. 11, 11:20 PT.
See FEMA and FCC Plan Nationwide Emergency Alert Test for Aug. 11 Test Messages Will be Sent to TVs and Radios Along with Select Cell Phones That Have Opted-in to Receive Test Messages

This test will be performed on Radio, TV, and Wireless Phone.

To monitor this this test on your smartphone, go to your smartphone’s settings notification page (on my iPhone, Government Alerts are shown when I scroll to the bottom). From there you can turn on the alerts.

To monitor this test on your Ham Radio, monitor your local NOAA weather station. For XCZ ARES, it is 162.550MHz, Channel 67.
